Produced by Peter Bayliss and directed by Peter Bradford, one of the Wealth of the World series. The story of the rapid development of canals, railways and road transport services in this country up to the reorganisation and nationalisation of 1948.
There are many stock shots from films like Painted Boats and Passenger Trains of the LMS; even a shot of KESR Locomotive No. 3 at Lydd from The Loves Of Joanna Godden. The film includes good steam scenes at Liverpool Street, an unidentified Castle and a shot of LMS 'Princess Royal' 4-6-2 No.6205 Princess Victoria.
