8) As a contrast to this heavy traffic, a sight familiar to anyone who has travelled by rail is an electric platform trolley, used for the hand-ling of light traffic for passenger and parcels trains. It is shown here on the station platform at Scarborough. Behind the driver there’s a chair, a bicycle, a mail bag, milk cans, parcels and packages of all descriptions. Such is the variety of stuff which the railways are called on to carry.
