The following assistance was given in 2008: A 16-board display of the line between Derby and Matlock, plus artefacts, for the Friends of the Derwent Valley Line community weekend from 16th to 18th May (see top left). Text and images for historical posters exhibited on each of the Derwent Valley line stations between Duffield and Matlock (see example, second left). Provision of images in June for Peak Rail’s exhibition in the former buffet on Darley Dale station. Provision of historical data and images for BBC Television’s “Down the Line” series in September presented by Pete Waterman. The following assistance was given in 2009: A 4-board display about Cromford station at the opening day of the refurbished buildings by the Duke of Devonshire on 28th May. This was later moved to Arkwright’s Cromford Mill. A 4-board display in Massarella’s Restaurant in the Peak Village at Rowsley to commemorate the 160th anniversary of the railway arriving at the terminus in that complex on 4th June. A 8-board display, with artefacts of other railway features at Rowsley on 11th August in conjunction with a valuation day by James Lewis, the antiques expert and TV celebrity. Provision of historical data and images for Talkback Thames Television’s “Great British Railway Journeys” series presented by Michael Portillo. The provision of images and information for a large signed erected in the Peak Village complex at Rowsley depicting the history of the original station building (shown third left). The following assistance has been given in 2011: Displays of photographs and ephemera in the original station building in the Peak Village Shopping Outlet. Provision of images and historical information for new interpretation boards along the Monsal Trail (shown fourth left). Opening of Peak Rail’s new engine shed on 3rd July The unveiling of the plaque commemorating the re-opening of Peak Rail’s Rowsley Shed was performed by Dennis ‘Chippy’ Parks (left) and Alan ‘Young Tant’ Wigley. Both their fathers were drivers who transferred from the old shed when the new one opened in 1926. Dennis was a member of the footplate staff from 1940 to 1966, while Alan worked in the office from 1941 to 1965. One hundred members attended the celebrations connected with the re-opening of Rowsley Shed, including 33 who worked there, most of whom are in this photograph. The following assistance has been given in 2012: The provision of a display at Hassop station café and the production of a book to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the opening of the station on 1st August 1862. Owner Duncan Stokes kindly provided refreshments for former employees and relations on the anniversary day.
